Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt was replaced by The One Show’s Alex Jones this morning after he was rushed to hospital for an emergency surgery

Saturday Kitchen viewers were left puzzled as Matt Tebbutt went missing from their screens this morning and was replaced by The One Show’s Alex Jones.
The Welsh presenter and mum-of-three shared her excitement on the morning show as she filled in for the 49-year-old TV chef. Alex’s face cropped up during BBC Breakfast when presenter Charlie turned to the Saturday Breakfast studio to find out what Matt had in store for viewers on the programme.
Speaking to Alex, a bemused Charlie said: “Matt’s disappeared and you’re there instead!” Responding, Alex excitedly said: “Matt’s disappeared and you’re there instead!” It comes after Matt Tebbutt had to be rushed to hospital for emergency surgery when he suffered a terrifying health issue.

Sharing an update on his Instagram page where he is seen with a blue mask on. He said: “Me, a morphine drip and an emergency appendectomy are keeping me from a much anticipated lunch at @manteca_london,” he began, as he complained about having to miss out on a date with friends. Matt was full of praise for the hospital staff, as well as the doctors and nurses, who attended to him after having his appendix removed.
He added: “But everything and everyone here at The Grange hospital in Gwent have been fantastic. Couldn’t ask for more from such a brilliant health service. So grateful. # nhs #nhsnurse #thegrangehospital #appendectomy.”
The procedure is usually carried out after the patient suffers appendicitis, which is painful aches on the lower right hand side of the stomach. The appendix needs to be removed – via keyhole surgery – as soon as possible, because otherwise it could lead to life-threatening complications.
