Victoria Derbyshire stood in for her while she was away from the programme, but now Laura, 47, has confirmed she will be back in the hosting hot seat this weekend.

Taking to X – formerly Twitter – Laura wrote: “Looking forward to being back on #bbclaurak this Sunday – thank you very much for all the kind messages in the last few weeks, and to @vicderbyshire
for holding the fort!”

Laura was first replaced on her October 8 show, where The Sun exclusively revealed she was missing for “personal reasons”.

With the full support of BBC bosses, she was given time off and missed the epsiode as it travelled to Liverpool for Labour’s Party Conference.

She was also replaced by Victoria, 55, on October 22 and 29.

Laura was the first ever woman to hold the position of political editor at the BBC, after succeeding Nick Robinson.

In December 2021 she confirmed she was stepping down as the BBC’s Political Editor for a  “senior presenting and reporting role” at the Corporation.

An announcement followed in March 2022 that Laura would be replacing Andrew Marr as the host of BBC One’s flagship Sunday morning politics show.

Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg airs on Sunday, November 5 at 9am on BBC One.
