The Chase presenter Bradey Walsh has been secretly suffering from a “seriously bad” eye condition. The host of the popular ITV teatime quiz show was diagnosed with blepharitis.

Appearing on This Morning a while back, he told then-hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that he has to take medication daily to manage the condition. “People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis,” he admitted.

“I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle. I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out. So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don’t realise. If I take medication though, I’m fine.”

According to the NHS website Blepharitis is a condition that causes swollen and itchy eyelids. It’s not usually serious and can often be treated by washing your eyelids every day.

Blepharitis symptoms often come and go, and can include sore eyelids and itchy eyes, as well as a gritty feeling in the eyes, flakes or crusts around the roots of the eyelashes and eyelids sticking together in the morning when you wake up.

That isn’t the only serious condition that actor and TV presenter Bradley lives with. Speaking in 2020, he revealed that he has issues with his cholesterol.

“I was a time bomb. I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer.

“I thought, ‘Oh crikey, I’m gonna be bang in trouble here if I don’t lose the weight and start dealing with this’.”

Just last month, the 63-year-old stunned viewers of The Chase as the answer to a question led him to reveal he suffers from another health condition.

The popular star, who is soon to be seen presenting BBC’s Gladiators with his son Barney Walsh, admitted he is colour-blind when a question about Scrabble came up on the show.
