The Great British Bake Off former host Sue Perkins has shared that she has been diagnosed with ADHD.

Perkins, who presented Bake Off from 2010 until 2016, revealed the diagnosis on Twitter when she replied to Gomez guitarist Tom Gray, who said he was exploring getting his own ADHD diagnosis.

Gray wrote: “I’m creeping towards an ADHD diagnosis. Strongly advised to do it to help me but more likely help people who have relationships with me.”

“Never realised before how object permanence is such a problem for me. Staying in touch rarely if ever occurs to me. I can only apologise. x”

Perkins then replied to the tweet with a message encouraging Gray to go ahead on the diagnosis “journey.”

Perkins wrote: “I have fully crept. Once I had the diagnosis, suddenly everything made sense – to me and those who love me. Wishing you well on the journey, Tom x”

Gray then replied to the message, saying: “Thanks so much Sue. xxx”

Recently, Perkins hosted her own Netflix show Sue Perkins: Perfectly Legal. In that show, she explored various dangerous subjects in South America and even got shot twice.

“Rather than spending my time in the UK having a midlife crisis, I go on quite an extreme journey, most of which I can’t talk about at teatime on the BBC. Some of the things I can talk about: all night clubbing, white water rafting, various extreme sports, adrenaline highs, I got shot twice — admittedly with protection,” Perkins said.

“This guy who makes bulletproof suits and shirts says ‘Come to my warehouse, I’ll shoot you!’ And that’s an interesting half hour.”
